Careers Day – Friday 27th January 2017
A massive thank you to Mr Chiremba for arranging such a valuable day for all in year 13! Arriving at school, we were apprehensive about what to expect. The presentations started at 9.00am and each student had their chance to shine by delivering an invigorating speech, in which we hoped would get us hired!
The speech topics ranged from how to ‘spread motivation like the sick bug’, being creative thinkers, having a positive perspective and even getting down to the knitty gritty of Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs. Then the speed dating began. Each business set up a stand and provided information which gave us an insight into how they operate. Thanks to Mr Donny Payne’s time management skills, we were kept to our time frame of 5 minutes per business! Meanwhile, the year 12’s were preparing a delicious top notch meal which was enjoyed by all!
Now fired up and motivated, the business owners and sixth form students gathered together with Steve Beckles Ebusua, the Speaker with the Orange Tie. Bursting with energy and self-belief, he delivered a powerful presentation to help us prepare for the workplace and to make the most of our opportunities.
Thanks again to all those who helped make this an excellent day!
